从...看
Reach for this when you want to evaluate something from a specific angle. '从 [PERSPECTIVE] 看' = 'viewed from [perspective] / looking at it from [angle].' Common openers: 从短期看 ('in the short term'), 从历史看 ('historically'), 从用户的角度看 ('from the user's perspective'). It tells the listener 'here's the frame I'm about to evaluate from' before delivering the judgment.

How to Think About It
从 introduces the source / starting point, and 看 ('look') frames it as a viewpoint rather than a physical origin. Together: 'looking from this angle.' The pattern only makes sense if the perspective is genuinely contestable — there are OTHER angles you could have taken. 从短期看... implicitly invites 从长期看... ('but in the long term'). Use it when you're explicitly bracketing your judgment to one frame.

短期看，这只是一个技术新鲜感。

From the user's perspective, this feature isn't very useful.
Common Mistake
Learners use 从...看 where 对...来说 fits better. 从...看 = 'viewed from X angle'; 对...来说 = 'for X (this person / group).' '从我看，这个想法不错' is awkward; '对我来说，这个想法不错' is right.

Don't Confuse With
对...来说
对...来说 = 'for / according to X (person or group).' 从...看 = 'viewed from X (an angle or time horizon).' Pick by whether you're naming a viewpoint-holder or a viewpoint.
从...来看
从...来看 is essentially the same pattern with 来 inserted — slightly more written / deliberate. 从...看 is the shorter spoken / journalistic version.
在...上
在...上 = 'in (the dimension of) X' ('在质量上' = 'in terms of quality'). Use 从...看 to view from a vantage point; use 在...上 to specify a dimension of comparison.
