有...的人来
Reach for 有 [origin/description] 的人来 when you want to say 'people from somewhere / of some kind came (here).' It's the natural existential-arrival sentence in Chinese: 有 introduces the existence of people, the modifier + 的 specifies what kind, and 来 says they showed up. Common when describing visitors at a market, fans at a concert, or applicants for a job. Subject-fronted alternatives feel less native for first-mention.
Structure
有 [MODIFIER] 的人 来 [/ 来 + PLACE]
yǒu... de rén lái...
How to Think About It
Chinese strongly prefers existential 有 to introduce people you haven't mentioned yet — like English 'there are ... who came.' The whole 有...的人 chunk acts as the subject of 来. Without 有, 沙特来的人多 reads as 'people from Saudi are many,' which is fine but different — it presupposes the people are known. Use 有...的人来 when you're announcing their existence for the first time.
Examples
有从沙特来的人,也有从约旦来的人。
Yǒu cóng Shātè lái de rén, yě yǒu cóng Yuēdàn lái de rén.
There are people from Saudi Arabia, and people from Jordan too.
今天有不少从外地来的人。
Jīntiān yǒu bù shǎo cóng wàidì lái de rén.
Today there are quite a few people from out of town.
店里有买衣服的人来。
Diàn lǐ yǒu mǎi yīfu de rén lái.
There are people coming to the shop to buy clothes.
Common Mistake
Learners front the subject without 有 when introducing new participants. The result is grammatical but sounds like the speaker assumes the listener already knows about those people.
沙特的人来了义乌。 (introducing them for the first time)
有沙特来的人来义乌。
Don't Confuse With
[PLACE] 的人来了
Use this when the listener already knows the group exists. 有...的人来 specifically introduces a new group into the conversation.
[N] 个 [PLACE] 来的人
Adds a count ('two people from Saudi came'). 有...的人来 is less specific — just notes the existence and arrival.
有人从 [PLACE] 来
Same idea, slightly different structure — 'there are people coming from [PLACE].' Either works; 有...的人来 packages the origin into a modifier rather than splitting it.
