English transcript reference

Today we're talking about a very famous movie that, twenty years later, has come back.

Twenty years ago, there was a movie called The Devil Wears Prada.

This movie is about a company that makes a fashion magazine.

The top person at the company is Miranda.

Miranda is extremely formidable, and also terrifying; everyone at the company fears her.

Andy is a young person, Miranda's assistant.

She helps Miranda with a great many things, and every day she's exhausted.

Twenty years have passed, and now this movie has come back.

It's still Miranda, still Andy, still those famous actors.

But this time, things are very different.

Twenty years ago, huge numbers of people bought magazines and read magazines.

And now?

Everyone uses a phone; very few people buy magazines anymore.

Before, everyone bought and read magazines; now, everyone looks at a phone and rarely reads magazines.

So Miranda's magazine company is getting harder and harder to run.

This most formidable person now has to think of many ways to keep the company alive.

The moment the movie came out, many people went to see it.

Because everyone wants to know: twenty years on, how are Miranda and Andy doing now?

The movie started in theaters; now you can watch it on your phone too.

Many people watched it and thought back to who they were twenty years ago.

And you?

Do you still read magazines, or do you only look at your phone now?
