About Fluentide Radio

Learning Chinese is hard. Most learners struggle to find enough listening material at their level. Textbook audio is boring. Native podcasts are too fast. There's a gap in the middle where learners need hours of comprehensible input but can't find it.

Fluentide Radio fills that gap. We use AI to generate fresh Chinese podcast episodes every day, calibrated to four proficiency levels from beginner to advanced. Each episode comes with a full script, pinyin annotations, line-by-line English translation, vocabulary lists, and grammar breakdowns.

Fluentide Radio is built on Stephen Krashen's comprehensible input hypothesis (i+1). The theory states that language acquisition happens when learners are exposed to input that is slightly above their current level — comprehensible enough to follow, but challenging enough to learn from.

Our four proficiency levels (beginner, easy, medium, normal) map to this principle. Each level uses vocabulary, grammar, and speech speed appropriate for that stage, with just enough new material to push learners forward.

Every episode covers real news and topics, not artificial textbook scenarios. Research shows that learners retain language better when the content is intrinsically interesting and relevant.

Each episode goes through a multi-step pipeline:

1. Topic Discovery — We search for trending and educational topics using real-time news sources and curated topic lists.
2. Research — Source material is gathered and preprocessed to extract key facts and context.
3. Script Generation — An AI language model writes a podcast script in Mandarin Chinese, calibrated to the target proficiency level. The script includes vocabulary annotations, grammar points, and a full English translation.
4. Audio Production — The script is converted to natural-sounding Mandarin speech using neural text-to-speech technology, with per-sentence timestamps for synced lyric display.
5. Quality Review — Episodes are reviewed for accuracy, natural language usage, and appropriate difficulty before publishing.
