What Fluentide Is
Fluentide is an AI-powered Chinese listening practice platform. We generate podcast-style episodes using real news and topics, with text-to-speech audio. You listen, answer comprehension questions, and build your Fluent Score over time.
What We Collect
Account information
- Email address (required to sign up)
- Display name (if you sign in with Google)
- Your learning preferences (pinyin display, translation display, preferred level)
Learning data
- Fluent Score and level progression
- Quiz answers, timing, and results
- Placement test results
- Episodes you listen to and how long you listen
- Words you save to your vocabulary list
- Episodes you save to your collection
Payment information
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or payment details. We only store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status (plan, start/end dates, whether it's active).
Usage analytics
- Session recordings and heatmaps (via Microsoft Clarity)
What we do NOT collect
- We do not access your microphone or record your voice
- We do not track your location
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data to advertisers
- We do not fingerprint your device
How We Use Your Data
- Personalization: Your Fluent Score determines which episodes and quiz difficulty you see.
- Service delivery: Sending transactional emails (welcome, subscription confirmation).
- Product improvement: Analytics help us understand which features are used and where users get stuck.
- Billing: Managing your subscription via Stripe.
Cookies and Local Storage
- Authentication cookies: Supabase session cookies keep you logged in.
- App state: We use localStorage for preferences like dismissed prompts and anonymous listen counts.
Third-Party Services
We share data with these services to operate Fluentide:
- Supabase — database and authentication (stores your account and learning data)
- Stripe — payment processing (handles all billing securely)
- Resend — transactional email delivery (receives your email address to send you emails)
- Microsoft Clarity — session recording and heatmaps
- Vercel — hosting and CDN
- Cloudflare — audio file storage and delivery
- Google — OAuth sign-in (if you choose to sign in with Google)
We do not sell your data to any third party.
Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, learning history, saved words, and quiz results from our database. Analytics data in Clarity may be retained according to its own retention policy.
Your Rights
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
- You can export your learning data by contacting us.
- You can opt out of analytics by using a browser ad blocker.
Children
Fluentide is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as Fluentide evolves. We'll update the date at the top when we do. Continued use of Fluentide after changes means you accept the updated policy.
