Is HSK 2 enough to live in China?

No. HSK 2 is about 300 words — enough for short-term tourism like ordering food, asking directions, and simple shopping. It is not enough to live, work, or study in China.

A two-week trip is fine. A workplace, dentist visit, or apartment rental is not. Daily life usually starts around HSK 4. Treat HSK 2 as a checkpoint if you plan to stay.

What does HSK 2 listening practice look like?

Everyday Mandarin at a comfortable pace — travel, work, food, hobbies. About 300 words. Faster than HSK 1, still slow enough to follow a short conversation.

Stories stay on the HSK 1–2 list. The same topic also exists at HSK 1 and HSK 3 if you want it easier or harder.

Transcript, pinyin, and English are there after you listen. Most people get through HSK 2 listening in about 50-80 hours if they practice a little every day.
