Today we'll talk about something that has car fans all over the world excited.

Yesterday, in Barcelona, Spain,

Hamilton won a race.

It sounds like he just won one race.

But for him,

this one race — he waited over five hundred days for it.

First, a brief introduction.

Hamilton drives F1 race cars.

F1 is the highest-level car racing in the world.

These cars run extremely fast,

racing lap after lap to see who finishes first.

And Hamilton is no ordinary driver.

He's won the season world championship seven times.

His race wins are the most in history.

You could say that, in this sport,

he's one of the greatest legends.

But even legends have their low points.

We have to first talk about

a decision that surprised everyone.

Before, Hamilton

was always with the Mercedes team.

Almost all of his honors

were won with this team.

By rights, he could have stayed there,

and safely, comfortably, driven until retirement.

But last year, he made a stunning choice:

he left Mercedes

and joined Ferrari.

Ferrari is F1's most famous,

and most storied, team.

Its cars are an iconic red.

For many drivers,

driving the red Ferrari

is a lifelong dream.

Hamilton wanted to fulfill this dream too.

So, even at forty-one,

he still came.

He wanted, with his own hands,

to win a race for Ferrari.

But reality was harsh.

After joining Ferrari,

over a span of more than a year,

he didn't win a single race.

The voices outside grew uglier and uglier.

Some said his form had declined,

some said he was old,

and some said his move to Ferrari

was a complete mistake.

That period was very hard on him.

But he didn't break down, and he didn't give up.

He still fought hard, race after race.

He was waiting for a chance.

Yesterday, that chance finally came.

In yesterday's race,

Hamilton's team made a very clever decision.

Everyone else pitted twice to change tires.

They had Hamilton stop three times.

One extra stop sounds slower.

But the timing was caught perfectly.

On top of that, midway through the race,

a car broke down on the track.

By the rules, everyone had to slow down.

This happened to give Hamilton a big hand.

And so, bit by bit, he drove up to first.

In the end, steadily,

he was first across the finish line.

He took, for Ferrari,

his first Grand Prix win.

Second place was his old friend,

Mercedes' Russell.

Third place was McLaren's Norris.

There's also a little side story.

The one originally leading the points

was a nineteen-year-old Mercedes youngster, Antonelli.

He had just won five in a row, with huge momentum.

But yesterday, his car also broke down, and he couldn't finish.

So this race, for Hamilton,

wasn't just a win — it was also a huge turnaround.

The moment the race ended,

Hamilton, in his car, was almost too moved to speak.

Because everyone knew,

his last race win

went all the way back to almost two years ago.

Finally, let's think together.

A person who has already won everything,

a person already forty-one years old,

why would he still leave his comfort zone

to take such a big risk?

Actually, what he's fighting for stopped being about winning or losing long ago.

What he's fighting for is a dream with no regrets.

Finally, I want to ask you.

If there's a dream

you want badly in your heart,

but you're also afraid it's 'too late' —

would you, like him,

bet everything and try once?

Listen again

Try it without the transcript and notice what sounds clearer.
