日本熊本7级大地震：发海啸警报、商场坍塌，数十万人避难

地震的震级，一开始说是七点一级，后来改成了六点八级。

The quake's magnitude was first put at 7.1, then revised down to 6.8.

震中，就在九州最大的城市——熊本的南边，离得很近。

The epicenter was right south of Kumamoto, Kyushu's largest city, very close by.

因为震源很浅，晃动特别厉害，很多房子都摇了起来。

Because the source was shallow, the shaking was especially fierce, and many houses swayed.

地震一发生，日本马上发出了海啸警报，担心会有一米高的海浪。

The moment it hit, Japan issued a tsunami warning, fearing a one-meter wave.

好在，最后并没有出现海啸，警报很快就取消了。

Thankfully, no tsunami appeared in the end, and the warning was soon cancelled.

但地震还是造成了不小的破坏。

But the quake still caused real damage.

在一个叫嘉岛的小镇，一家大商场的二楼，直接塌了下来，有人被困在里面。

In a small town called Kashima, the second floor of a big mall collapsed straight down, trapping people inside.

到目前为止，已经有至少两个人死亡，还有十几个人受伤。

So far, at least two people have died, and more than ten are injured.

因为担心再有强震，成千上万的人，被要求离开家去避难。

Fearing more strong quakes, tens of thousands of people were told to leave home and take shelter.

日本就在地震带上，本来就常常地震。

Japan sits on an earthquake belt and shakes often anyway.

可是每一次大地震，还是会让所有人都绷紧神经。

But every big quake still leaves everyone's nerves on edge.
