Trump
English transcript reference

First, a fun fact: in America, no matter how popular you are, you can be president at most two terms, eight years total.

This is written in black and white, into the Constitution.

This rule was set over seventy years ago.

Before that, one president was re-elected four times and stayed in the White House for more than a decade; many worried that too much power, for too long, in one person's hands, isn't a good thing.

So afterward, people set this "two-term cap" rule.

Trump has already been president twice: once a few years ago, and once right now.

Under this rule, in 2028 he has no way to run again.

But he loves nothing more than to joke about exactly this.

He specially made a batch of red "Trump 2028" hats.

A few days ago, at a big White House event, in front of all the reporters, he pulled out the hat, put it on, and said: "The third time will be even better."

Then he added a line: "I'm joking."

But right after, he "upped the ante," saying: actually I'd like to announce I'm running for a fourth term.

The people in the audience couldn't tell: is he serious, or is he fishing for everyone's attention?

And that's the most intriguing part.

Legally, his running for a third term is nearly impossible — to change it, you'd first have to change the Constitution, which is extremely hard.

Even the number-one figure on his own side publicly said: I don't see a path for him to run in 2028.

So why does he keep bringing it up?

Some think it's a "strategy": as long as everyone keeps guessing whether he'll leave, he stays the center of the conversation, and his influence won't fade so fast.

Between the real and the fake, these four words, "Trump 2028," have become a topic in American politics you can't avoid.
