There's a film that, a full twenty years later, still has audiences worldwide scrambling for tickets: The Devil Wears Prada 2.

First, the original.

Twenty years ago, it almost defined a generation's image of “the fashion world.”

At its core is a top fashion magazine and its absolute-authority editor-in-chief — Miranda Priestly.

She doesn't need to lose her temper; a single look, one feather-light remark, can make the whole office tremble.

Many people know the character's model is said to be a real, legendary figure in fashion.

And the Andy that Anne Hathaway plays is the young newcomer getting a harsh lesson from reality.

What's clever about this twenty-years-later sequel is that it doesn't pretend time hasn't moved on.

In the original's era, print magazines were still the absolute center of power; whether you made the cover decided a brand's life or death.

But today?

Almost no one buys print magazines anymore; everyone's attention is on phones and social media.

So in the new film, even a fierce figure like Miranda looks, for the first time, a little cornered: she has to do everything she can to keep her magazine alive.

She even has to go find her old junior assistant Emily for help — because Emily now controls a huge advertising budget.

Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci — almost the entire original cast returns.

The film opened in theaters in May, passed $600 million worldwide, and has now landed on streaming, watchable on your phone anytime.

There's a neat irony hidden here: a film about “magazines dying” ends up, thanks to phone screens, being seen by even more people.

But what truly moves you isn't the fashion, or the designer labels.

It's the question no one can dodge: when the era you know slowly draws to a close, how do you turn and leave with grace?

Miranda won once, twenty years ago, her old way; this time, can she still win?

So, one last question: if one day the thing you're best at is suddenly no longer needed, what would you do?
