The story takes place in a very hot summer.

Her grades are excellent.

她想报复 = she wants to get revenge.
车钥匙 = bike/car keys. Second syllable is neutral tone: yàoshi.
游泳 (swim) + 池 (pool). 旧游泳池 = an old pool.
塑料袋里的金鱼 = goldfish in a plastic bag.
这只是一笔交易 = this is just a transaction. Measure word: 笔.
