这两个国家是世界上最大的两个。These two countries are the biggest in the world.
他们说话，全世界都听。When they speak, the whole world listens.
他们做事，全世界都看。When they act, the whole world watches.
这个星期，发生了一件大事。This week, something big happened.
美国的总统来了中国。The US president came to China.
美国总统叫特朗普。The US president is named Trump.
他是美国的老大。He's the head of the US.
他来了北京。He came to Beijing.
他来做什么？What did he come for?
他来跟中国的国家主席见面。He came to meet China's president.
中国的国家主席叫习近平。China's president is named Xi Jinping.
两个国家的老大，The leaders of the two countries,
要面对面见面，were meeting face to face,
要说很多事情。to talk about many things.
这是一件大事。This is a big deal.
因为他们两个不常见。Because the two of them don't meet often.
九年了，没有美国总统来过中国。For nine years, no US president had been to China.
九年是很长的时间。Nine years is a long time.
所以全世界都在看。So the whole world is watching.
都想知道他们说了什么。Everyone wants to know what they said.

他不是一个人来。He didn't come alone.

他是英伟达的老板。He's the boss of Nvidia.
英伟达做 AI 芯片。Nvidia makes AI chips.
这三个人都很有名。These three are all very famous.
他们都很有钱。They're all very rich.
他们为什么也来？Why did they also come?
因为他们想在中国做生意。Because they want to do business in China.
他们的公司都想卖东西给中国人。Their companies all want to sell things to Chinese people.
也想从中国买东西。They also want to buy things from China.
他们一起坐飞机。They flew together.
跟总统一起来。With the president.
美国的大公司，American big companies,
还想跟中国做朋友。still want to be friends with China.
不想分开。They don't want to split.
我们说说他们见面说了什么。Let's talk about what they discussed.
第一，他们说生意。First, they discussed business.
两个国家签了很多协议。The two countries signed many agreements.
有两千五百亿美元那么多。Worth 250 billion dollars.
两千五百亿是多少？How much is 250 billion?
是非常非常多的钱。It's an enormous amount of money.
主要是中国到美国去投资。Mostly China investing in the US.
中国要在美国的西维吉尼亚州，China will invest in West Virginia, USA,
投资八百四十亿美元。84 billion dollars.
那里要建天然气和化工厂。They'll build gas and chemical plants there.
中国也要投资。China will also invest there.
四百三十亿美元。43 billion dollars.
那里要建液化天然气厂。They'll build an LNG plant there.
听起来很大对吧？Sounds big, right?
第二，他们说和平。Second, they discussed peace.
他们说到中东。They talked about the Middle East.
中东最近有问题。The Middle East has been having problems.
有一个叫霍尔木兹海峡的地方。There's a place called the Strait of Hormuz.
那里很重要。That place is very important.
因为很多石油从那里走。Because a lot of oil goes through there.
两国领导人都说：Both leaders said:
那里要开放。That place must stay open.
第三，他们说关系。Third, they discussed the relationship.
"关系"就是两个国家好不好。"Relationship" means how the two countries are getting along.
"我跟习主席关系很好。"My relationship with Xi is very good.
"我们的关系比历史上任何时候都好。"Our relationship is better than at any time in history."
"我们要做一种新的关系。"We want to build a new kind of relationship.
"这种关系，"This relationship,
"叫'建设性战略稳定关系'。"is called 'Constructive Strategic Stability Relationship.'"
听不懂没关系。If you don't get it, that's OK.
我们不一定是好朋友。We aren't necessarily good friends.
但是我们也不打架。But we don't fight either.
我们好好做生意。We do business properly.
这是一个新词。This is a new term.
未来三年，For the next three years,
中美关系就用这个词。US-China relations will use this term.
但是有的人不太相信。But some people don't quite believe it.
他们没有发联合声明。They didn't issue a joint statement.
联合声明就是两个国家一起签字的文件。A joint statement is a document the two countries sign together.
这次没有。This time there wasn't one.
只是各自说自己的。They just spoke separately.
美国说美国的话。The US said its things.
中国说中国的话。China said its things.
他们说了很多。They talked a lot.
但是真正定下来的事，But what was actually settled,
很多事情还要慢慢做。Many things still need to be worked out slowly.
不是这次能全部解决的。Not everything could be solved this time.
但是不管怎么说，But however you put it,
两个国家的老大见了面。the leaders of the two countries met.
说了三天。They talked for three days.
这就比以前好多了。This is much better than before.
最后我想说一点。Last I want to say one thing.
这件事告诉我们什么？What does this tell us?
不一定要做最好的朋友。don't necessarily have to be best friends.
但是他们也不能打架。But they also can't fight.
打架了，全世界都会出问题。If they fight, the whole world has a problem.
所以慢慢说话，So talking slowly,
慢慢做生意，doing business slowly,
这就是最好的样子了。that's the best it can be.
