Today let's talk about a World Cup knockout game that stunned the soccer world: Norway pulled off a shock, beating five-time champions Brazil two to one to reach a World Cup quarter-final for the first time in their history.

This is a win for the Norwegian record books, and also the curtain call for a superstar.

First, a word on Brazil.

Brazil are a super-power of world soccer, five-time World Cup winners, and deserved title favorites.

Their opponents Norway, though rising in recent years, still sit a fair distance below Brazil on paper.

But they held one trump card in their hand — Haaland.

Alright, into the game.

In the first half, the two sides traded attacks, and the score was nil-nil.

For much of the second half, Brazil held the play, attacking Norway's goal again and again, yet could never break through.

Norway dropped deep, holding firm with stubborn defending, patiently waiting for their moment.

Just as everyone assumed the game was heading to extra time, the most fearsome man of all struck.

In the seventy-ninth minute, Haaland rose high and beat the Brazil keeper with a textbook header — zero to one, Norway shocking their way into the lead.

And this was only the beginning.

In the ninetieth minute, Haaland seized a chance outside the box and scored again with a low finish — zero to two, all but sealing Brazil's fate.

Those two goals took Haaland's tally at this World Cup to seven.

Only now, two goals down, did Brazil wake as if from a dream: Neymar stepped up and converted a penalty to pull it back to one to two.

But it was too late, and in the time that remained, Brazil could conjure no miracle.

In the end, Norway won two to one, historically shutting five-time champions Brazil out of the quarter-finals.

So, how should this game be judged?

For Norway, this is a great win worthy of the national record books.

They reached a World Cup quarter-final for the first time, and Haaland single-handedly carried the whole team.

For Brazil, this defeat is without doubt catastrophic.

As one of the most fancied teams, they bid the World Cup an early farewell, a genuine shock.

And most poignant of all is Neymar.

That penalty was his first goal at this World Cup, and very likely his last.

According to reports, after the game Neymar announced his retirement from the national team, making this almost certainly his final World Cup.

An era, just like that, comes to an end.

That's Norway two to one Brazil, a game belonging to Haaland, and to a farewell.

See you next match.
