Today let's talk about a very special World Cup match.
This match was England against Ghana.
First, the result: the two teams drew nil-nil, neither scored.
You might think: isn't nil-nil boring?
Actually no — this nil-nil was especially gripping.
Because it told a story of tenacious defending.
Let's first talk about these two teams.
England comes from Europe, one of the strongest teams in the world.
They have many famous stars and are always title favourites.
Their captain is called Kane, a forward who is very good at scoring.
Ghana comes from Africa, not as famous as England.
But Ghana's players are physically strong and play tenaciously, never easy to deal with.
In recent years, Ghana has been a distinctive African team.
Before the match, almost everyone thought England would win easily.
From the kickoff, England attacked constantly.
They kept the ball at their feet and struck at Ghana's goal again and again.
Crosses, shots, corners — England tried everything.
All match, England had many shots and plenty of chances.
They reportedly had far more shots than Ghana.
On the run of play, they almost completely dominated Ghana.
Most of the time, the ball was in Ghana's half.
For Ghana, even getting the ball was not easy.
But football is about goals, not who plays more.
Yet the ball just wouldn't go in.
Why?
Because Ghana defended too well.
The whole team dropped back to protect their goal.
Every player fought hard, no one gave up.
A few times England's ball nearly went in, and the fans rose to their feet.
Sadly, in the end the ball still didn't go in.
Even a scorer like Kane couldn't find the net today.
And so, minute by minute, the time ticked away.
England kept attacking, but never managed to score.
In the end, the match finished nil-nil.
For England, this result was a bit disappointing.
They attacked so much, had so many chances, yet scored not a single goal.
But for Ghana, this was a very good result.
Almost no one backed them before the match, yet they withstood England's attacks all game.
Against such a strong England, they protected their goal and earned a precious point.
"Points" are the score you get from a match; a draw earns one point.
For Ghana, this one point meant so much.
For many big teams, one point might mean nothing.
But for a team like Ghana, this point was like a medal.
After the match, many people praised Ghana.
Some said Ghana's defending was so tenacious, the whole team fought, and the keeper was crucial.
Others said they traded a whole match of effort for this precious point.
Some said England were a bit unlucky, so many shots yet unable to score.
Actually, this is the interesting part of football.
Whether you score often matters more than how many shots you take.
No matter how beautifully a team plays, if it can't take its chances, it's hard to win.
And even if a team is a little weaker, as long as it defends well, it can still earn points.
Playing more doesn't always mean winning; defending well is a skill too.
For England, this match is a reminder: as a strong team, chances aren't enough — you must finish.
And for Ghana, this point will give them more confidence and more hope in the matches ahead.
Okay, that's the match between England and Ghana.
The two drew nil-nil; Ghana defended tenaciously and earned a point.
To hold a strong team like England to a draw means a lot to Ghana.
For a less famous team, this really is remarkable.
