In 2019, the US's Trump said he wanted to buy Greenland.
Many people in Greenland were very unhappy when they heard it.
Now, the US has not bought Greenland.
On September 22, in New York, three places signed an agreement.
To sign is to write your name on it.
An agreement is words that everyone has agreed on.
The three places are the US, Denmark and Greenland.
This agreement is a security agreement.
Security means everyone is fine and no one comes to attack you.
Now, the US has one base there.
A base is a place where US planes and people stay.
The agreement says the US can have two more bases.
US planes can also land in many places there.
If some countries want a base there, all three places must say yes.
So does Greenland belong to the US?
No.
The agreement says Greenland belongs to the people there and to Denmark.
Greenland's Nielsen said: if you are safe, we are safe too.
In October, Greenland held a meeting, and many people said the agreement was good.
They will hold another meeting to decide whether they want this agreement.
