Today we're talking about a World Cup match.

It's Ivory Coast versus Ecuador.

In the end Ivory Coast beat Ecuador one to zero.

This was a hard-fought and very watchable game.

First, an interesting thing.

Ivory Coast is in Africa, Ecuador is in South America.

These two countries had never played each other at a World Cup before.

So today was their first ever meeting.

Neither knew the other well, so at first both played cautiously.

Neither team is the strongest in the world, but both have real character.

Ivory Coast's players are physical, fast, and strong.

Ecuador's players combine well and pass nicely.

So before the match many said it was hard to call — either side could win.

When the match began, both teams played seriously.

Ivory Coast wanted to attack forward.

Ecuador weren't weak either — they defended well and dared to push up.

The two teams went back and forth, both with some chances.

But no matter how they played, the ball just wouldn't go in.

Ivory Coast shot several times — some too high, some blocked.

Ecuador tried several times too, and couldn't score.

The first half ended still zero to zero.

In the second half, neither team could score.

The fans got a little anxious: would this game end zero to zero?

Time ticked by, and it looked about to finish.

Just as the match was nearly over, the key moment came.

Ivory Coast got a chance.

The ball reached Diallo's feet.

Diallo is a famous Ivory Coast player who plays for a big club in England.

He didn't waste the chance and struck the ball into the goal.

One to zero!

Ivory Coast scored at the last moment!

The whole stadium erupted.

Ivory Coast's players rushed over and hugged together.

Nearly ninety minutes with no goal, then suddenly one went in — that joy is hard to describe.

For Ecuador, this goal came too late and too cruelly.

They defended for nearly the whole game, and still conceded at the end.

After this goal, the match was nearly over too.

Ecuador wanted to equalize at once, but there wasn't enough time.

They had no more chance to score.

The whistle blew, the score fixed at one to zero.

This game teaches us a lesson: in soccer, playing well isn't enough — scoring matters most.

Ecuador didn't play badly today, but they didn't score, so they still lost.

Ivory Coast didn't play all that prettily either, but they seized the last chance and won three points.

Sometimes a game is just like this — whoever scores at the key moment wins.

For Ivory Coast, taking three points in the first game is a great start.

They suddenly stand near the top of the group.

For Ecuador, losing the first game is a shame, but there are chances ahead.

Actually, zero to zero and one to zero are very different.

At zero to zero, each team takes one point.

At one to zero, the winner takes three and the loser gets none.

Just because of that one goal at the end, Ivory Coast gained two extra points.

In the group, those two points could be crucial.

This game also made everyone remember the name Diallo.

He usually plays in England — fast, and brave in attack.

Today, at the most important moment, he stepped up.

A good player is one who can help the team win at the crucial moment.

That's the story of Ivory Coast one to zero Ecuador.
