Today we're talking about a World Cup knockout game: Switzerland beat Algeria two to zero.
In this game, Switzerland won both easily and cleverly.
First, a word on Switzerland.
Switzerland is a very disciplined team.
They may not have many big stars, but the whole team combines very well.
Their coach is great at setting up tactics that make opponents uncomfortable.
Alright, let's look at the game.
The game had only just started when Switzerland scored.
In the tenth minute, a teammate carried the ball all the way down the left, then crossed, and Embolo touched it in from close range in front of goal.
One to zero, Switzerland led very early.
This goal made Switzerland play with more confidence.
As the second half began, Switzerland scored again.
Ndoye hit a low shot from outside the box, and the ball skidded along the ground into the net.
Two to zero, Switzerland extended their lead.
Two goals down, Algeria had no choice but to attack harder.
But Switzerland's defense was very steady and their positioning very smart, making it hard for Algeria to find chances.
Attack after attack was blocked by Switzerland.
The Switzerland players dropped back to protect their goal together, combining very well.
The more anxious Algeria got, the less they could find an answer.
In the end, Switzerland comfortably held the two-nil lead, without conceding a single goal.
So, how should we view this game?
For Switzerland, this is a win that was both clever and important.
They took their chances to score, and protected the result with outstanding defending.
Actually, Switzerland hadn't won a World Cup knockout game in a very, very long time.
The last time they won like this goes back many, many years.
So this win means a great deal to Switzerland.
For Algeria, losing is of course a shame.
They played hard too, they just couldn't take their chances.
But reaching the knockout stage is already great for them.
That's Switzerland two to zero Algeria, a win that belonged to discipline and teamwork.
See you next match.
