T-Mobile is one of America's biggest phone carriers, with tens of millions of users.
On Monday afternoon, July 27th, trouble struck without warning.
Starting around 4pm, more and more people found their phones had lost signal.
On the screen, all that was left were the words "SOS" or "No Service."
No calls, no texts, and no internet either.
On a site dedicated to reporting outages, more than 140,000 people said they'd hit problems within a single hour.
It wasn't just calls — many people's home 5G internet went down too.
What made it worse was that at first, no one knew what had happened.
Was the network broken?
Was the software glitching?
Or was someone attacking it?
Everyone was guessing.
Thankfully, by the next morning, most people's phones had slowly recovered.
Some said they just restarted their phone and the signal came back.
But to this day, T-Mobile still hasn't formally explained what actually went wrong.
This outage of just a few hours reminded many people: our lives really do lean heavily on our phones.
