Greenland has not been sold to the United States.
Denmark, Greenland, and the United States want to do security things together.
They want to sign a security agreement.
An agreement means agreeing on how everyone will work together in the future.
Right now, this agreement has not been signed.
Denmark says it may be signed next week.
People from the three places will meet at a big conference that many countries attend.
At the conference, they may meet and put their names on the agreement.
But even after signing, it does not start right away.
They still have to go back and meet to decide whether they want this agreement.
Only when everyone agrees does the agreement start.
Hearing about the agreement, some people worry: Will Greenland be given to the United States?
Because the United States wants to do more security things there.
But doing things together and buying a place are two different things.
Denmark says Greenland is still the Greenlandic people's place.
The Greenlandic people live there and also want to decide their own future.
The people of Greenland also say that everyone has heard what they have to say.
Today, you cannot say the agreement has been signed, because it has not been yet.
You also cannot say the United States has bought Greenland, because this is not selling something.
Next week, if it is signed, everyone still has to meet and agree.
