三天，两位才女翻车：蒋方舟、贾浅浅接连被撤硕士学位

短短三天之内，两位曾经很有名的女作家，先后被大学撤销了硕士学位。

In just three days, two once-famous women writers had their master's degrees revoked by their universities, one after another.

一个叫蒋方舟，一个叫贾浅浅。

One is called Jiang Fangzhou, one is called Jia Qianqian.

这两个名字，很多人可能都听过。

Many people have probably heard both names.

先说蒋方舟。

First, Jiang Fangzhou.

她算是大家从小看着长大的"天才少女"。

She's someone the public watched grow up — a "genius girl."

七岁开始写作，九岁就出了自己的第一本书，一路顶着"天才"的光环。

She started writing at seven, published her first book at nine, riding the "genius" halo all the way.

后来她考大学，据说是被名校破格录取的，分数还降了一大截，光这一点，当年在很多普通学生看来，就不太公平。

When she took the college exam, she was reportedly admitted to a top school under a special waiver, with her score cut by a wide margin — which, to many ordinary students at the time, seemed less than fair.

再说贾浅浅。

Now, Jia Qianqian.

她的来头也不小，她的父亲，是中国文坛非常有名的老作家，贾平凹。

Her background is no small matter either: her father is Jia Pingwa, a hugely famous senior figure in China's literary world.

贾浅浅自己，是一所大学的副教授，还在作家协会里有职务。

Jia Qianqian herself is an associate professor at a university, and also holds a post in the Writers' Association.

前几年，她因为写的一些诗，被网友嘲笑，也被质疑是靠父亲的关系，才进的作协。

A few years back, some poems she wrote were mocked by netizens, and she was accused of joining the Association through her father's connections.

可以说，一个是"天才神话"，一个是"文二代"，两个人身上，都带着光环，也都带着背景。

You could say one is a "genius myth" and the other a "literary heir" — both carrying a halo, and both carrying background.

那这一次，到底出了什么事？

So what happened this time?

说白了，就是两个人的论文，先后被查出了严重的抄袭。

Bluntly put, both women's papers were found to contain serious plagiarism.

蒋方舟这边，其实早在去年，就有一位清华大学的教授，实名举报她的硕士论文抄袭。

On Jiang Fangzhou's side, in fact, a Tsinghua University professor had already reported her thesis for plagiarism last year, under his real name.

一开始，人民大学调查后说：没发现问题。

At first, Renmin University, after investigating, said: no problem found.

可是舆论一直没有平息，后来又出现了新的线索。

But public opinion never died down, and new clues surfaced later.

学校重新调查，最终认定：她的论文，确实有九处和一篇外国期刊的文章文字重合，而且没有标明出处。

The school reopened its investigation and finally ruled that her thesis indeed had nine passages overlapping a foreign journal article, with no source cited.

七月十三号，人民大学正式撤销了她的硕士学位。

On July 13, Renmin University formally revoked her master's degree.

仅仅两天后，七月十五号，另一边，西北大学也出手了。

Just two days later, on July 15, Northwest University struck too.

学校认定贾浅浅学术不端，一次性撤销了她的硕士学位、副教授职称，还解除了聘用关系。

It ruled that Jia Qianqian had committed academic misconduct and, in one stroke, revoked her master's degree, her associate-professor title, and terminated her employment.

调查发现，她十几篇论文里，有一大半，都存在抄袭。

The investigation found that of her dozen-plus papers, more than half contained plagiarism.

面对处理，蒋方舟在网上公开道了歉，说自己接受学校的决定，并向读者和老师致歉。

Facing the ruling, Jiang Fangzhou apologized publicly online, saying she accepts the school's decision and apologizing to readers and teachers.

两件事挨得这么近，自然被大家放在一起讨论。

The two events fell so close together that they were naturally discussed side by side.

很多人拍手叫好，觉得这是一次难得的胜利。

Many applauded, seeing it as a rare victory.

因为不管你是天才，还是名人的孩子，只要碰了学术造假这条线，一样要付出代价。

其实说到底，无论你是天才，还是名门之后，真正能立得住脚的，从来不是头上的光环和背后的背景，而是你自己实实在在写出来的东西。

The truth is, whether you're a genius or a literary heir, what really lets someone stand firm has never been the halo above your head or the background behind you, but the work you write, solidly, yourself.

一旦碰了抄袭这条底线，光环有多亮，摔得就有多疼。

Cross the bottom line of plagiarism, and the brighter the halo, the harder the fall.
