为了... (Subject) + Verb
Reach for this when you want to explain the PURPOSE behind an action — 'in order to,' 'for the sake of.' 为了 introduces the goal first, and the main action describing how that goal is pursued comes after. Common in everyday speech and writing alike. Whatever follows 为了 is what you want, and whatever follows the comma is what you do to get it.
Structure
为了 [GOAL],[SUBJECT] [VERB] [REST]。

How to Think About It
为了 is a forward-looking arrow: the thing right after it is the destination, not the cause. Native speakers expect 为了 to be answered by an action chosen to reach that goal — drop the action and the sentence dangles. Putting 为了 at the front spotlights the motivation; you can also tuck the 为了-phrase mid-sentence, but the goal must still precede the action it justifies.

Common Mistake
Learners confuse 为了 (purpose, looking forward) with 因为 (reason, looking back). If the slot answers 'why did this happen?' use 因为; if it answers 'what was the goal?' use 为了.

因为下雨了,我带了伞。
