只要...，就...
Reach for 只要...，就... when you want to say one condition is enough to trigger a result — 'as long as X, then Y.' The 只要 half names the sufficient condition; the 就 half delivers the guaranteed consequence. It's the Chinese way of arguing that a single requirement, once met, unlocks the rest. How to Think About It
只要 puts a low bar in the doorway. As long as that bar gets cleared, 就 says the next step follows automatically. Compare with 只有...才...: 只有 sets a necessary condition, meaning only if X happens can Y happen — it's restrictive. 只要 is permissive: X is enough, anything beyond is bonus. Keep that switch in mind when picking between them.

Common Mistake
Learners pair 只要 with 才 instead of 就, mixing it up with 只有...才.... 只要 is sufficient (low bar, easy unlock), so it always pairs with 就; 才 carries restrictive 'only then' weight that contradicts the permissive feel of 只要.

Don't Confuse With
只有...才...
Necessary condition: only if X happens will Y happen. Use 只有 when X is the unique requirement; use 只要 when X is enough by itself.
如果...就...
Plain conditional ('if X, then Y'). Use 如果 for neutral hypotheticals; use 只要 when you want to emphasize that the condition is minimal and easy to meet.
要是...就...
Spoken cousin of 如果...就.... Same hypothetical logic, more casual. None of these stress 'sufficiency' like 只要 does.
