既然……就/也……
Reach for this when a fact is already on the table and you want to draw the obvious next move from it — 'since X is already the case, then Y.' It's the connector for accepted premises, not for new reasons. The 既然 clause is something both speaker and listener treat as settled; the 就/也 clause is the logical conclusion that follows. Common in argument, advice, and decision-making.

How to Think About It
既然 is not 'because' — it's 'given that.' The 因为 cause is news to the listener; the 既然 premise is something already agreed on, and the speaker is just spelling out what to do about it. That's why 就 (or 也) is almost always paired with it: the conclusion feels inevitable, not freshly reasoned.
Examples
既然你不喜欢这份工作，就别做了。
Jìrán nǐ bù xǐhuān zhè fèn gōngzuò, jiù bié zuò le.
Since you don't like this job, then quit.
既然他已经道歉了，我们也别再生气了。
Jìrán tā yǐjīng dàoqiàn le, wǒmen yě bié zài shēngqì le.
Since he's already apologized, let's stop being angry.
既然来了北京，就一定要去长城看看。
Jìrán lái le Běijīng, jiù yídìng yào qù Chángchéng kànkan.
Since you've come to Beijing, you absolutely have to go see the Great Wall.
Common Mistake
Learners swap 既然 in for 因为 when the cause is brand-new information. 既然 only works when the premise is already established or obvious to both speakers — otherwise it sounds like the speaker is skipping a step.
既然今天下雨了，所以我没带伞。
因为今天下雨了，所以我没带伞。
Don't Confuse With
因为……所以……
Use 因为 when the cause is new information you're introducing. Use 既然 when the cause is already known and you're drawing the conclusion.
如果……就……
如果 sets up a hypothetical that may or may not be true. 既然 treats the premise as already true.
由于……因此……
由于 is a formal 'because' for written cause-effect. 既然 is conversational and assumes shared knowledge.
