晴
sunny; clear (weather)

What does 晴 mean?
晴 (qíng) is the adjective for 'clear / sunny' weather — a sky with no rain and few clouds. The character carries the 日 ('sun') radical on the left, a strong visual hint. 晴 is rarely used as a stand-alone adjective the way English uses 'sunny'; native speakers normally say 晴天 (qíngtiān, 'a clear / sunny day') or pair it in compounds like 晴朗 (qínglǎng, 'bright and clear'). Weather forecasts shorten it to a single character: 今天晴 ('today: clear'), 明天多云转晴 ('tomorrow cloudy turning clear'). Because 晴 describes the sky, you don't normally use it for a person feeling 'sunny / cheerful' — for that, switch to 开心 (kāixīn) or 阳光 (yángguāng). The opposite is 阴 (yīn, 'overcast') or 雨 (yǔ, 'rainy').

Common phrases with 晴
Synonyms
晴朗 is the fuller two-syllable form, slightly more written/descriptive: 'bright and clear.' Use 晴 in forecasts and short statements; use 晴朗 in writing or when you want a richer description.
Don't confuse 晴 with
情 ('feeling, emotion,' as in 爱情 'love') sounds identical to 晴 and the right side 青 is the same. The radical is the giveaway: 晴 has 日 (sun) for weather; 情 has 忄 (heart) for feelings.
请 ('please / to invite,' as in 请问) shares the 青 component but uses the speech radical 讠 and a third tone. Different word, different tone.
清 ('clear / clean,' as in 清水) also shares 青 but takes the water radical 氵 and is first tone. 晴 = clear sky; 清 = clear water / pure.
