Overdo 《这一秒过火》 Zhè Yì Miǎo Guò Huǒ
Based on a novel by Fei Wo Si Cun. In 1930s Republican-era Shanghai, a pharmacist’s daughter, Ren Susu, hides a starving runaway boy in her family’s medicine shop — Murong Qingyi, a warlord’s son swapped at birth and abused by his adoptive father. Her kindness brings the warlord’s enemies down on her family, who are wiped out; she alone survives. Years later she returns under the alias Fang Mulan to take her revenge, only to fall back into a decade-long love-hate entanglement with the boy she once saved.

Is Overdo good for learning Chinese?
Overdo is a better fit for learners who already enjoy the drama or like Republican-era romance.
