What does it mean to learn Chinese with C-dramas?

It means using a show you already care about as listening material. English subtitles teach little, because your eyes go to the English. A retelling at your level lets you follow the Chinese itself, and you keep going because you want to know what happens next.

How the four levels work

  1. Beginner · HSK 1

    然后，两个人都去游泳池里了。

    Ránhòu, liǎng gè rén dōu qù yóuyǒngchí lǐ le.

    Then they both went into the pool.

  2. Easy · HSK 2

    他们在水里，金鱼在他们旁边。

    Tāmen zài shuǐ lǐ, jīnyú zài tāmen pángbiān.

    They were in the water, goldfish all around them.

  3. Medium · HSK 3–4

    两个人干脆跳进水里，在金鱼中间游来游去。

    Liǎng gè rén gāncuì tiào jìn shuǐ lǐ, zài jīnyú zhōngjiān yóu lái yóu qù.

    They just jumped in and swam among the goldfish.

  4. Normal · HSK 5–6

    两个人索性跳进去，在满池的金鱼中间游来游去。

    Liǎng gè rén suǒxìng tiào jìnqù, zài mǎn chí de jīnyú zhōngjiān yóu lái yóu qù.

    They simply jumped in and swam through a pool full of goldfish.
