和...一样
Reach for this when you want to say two things are equivalent or alike — 'my phone is the same as yours,' 'she's just like her mom,' 'this restaurant is as good as that one.' 和 (or 跟) introduces what you're comparing to, and 一样 means 'the same.' You can stop there for a flat equivalence, or add an adjective after 一样 to specify what they're equally like ('equally tall').

How to Think About It
和...一样 is one packaged comparison; the two parts work as a frame, not as separate words. The thing you're comparing TO sits BETWEEN 和 and 一样 — and that order is fixed. To say 'A is as tall as B,' the height adjective goes AFTER 一样, not between A and B: A 和 B 一样高, never A 和 B 高一样.

Common Mistake
Learners put the adjective in the wrong slot, between B and 一样, copying the English 'A is as tall as B' word order. In Chinese the adjective comes LAST.
我和他高一样。

Don't Confuse With
A 比 B + Adjective
Use 比 to say A is MORE X than B (not equal). 和...一样 says they're equal.
A 没有 B + Adjective
Use this to say A is LESS X than B (negative comparison).
A 像 B 一样
像...一样 is softer — 'similar to / resembles' rather than 'exactly the same as.' Often used with metaphors: 他像小孩一样.
