What does 数据 mean?
数据 (shùjù) means "data" — factual figures, statistics, or machine-readable information collected for analysis. It is the everyday word behind 大数据 (big data), 数据库 (database), and 数据分析 (data analysis), and dominates tech, science, finance, and news writing. Unlike English "data," 数据 is uncountable and never takes a plural; you quantify it with a measure word (一组数据, "a set of data") or with amounts (很多数据).
Keep it distinct from 数字 (shùzì), which is a single digit or numeral, and from 资料 (zīliào), which is broader reference material — documents, files, background info — not necessarily numeric. 数据 is specifically the numeric or structured information a computer or analyst works with: 用户数据 (user data), 实时数据 (real-time data), 个人数据 (personal data)
