How to Think About It
Unlike a standard 不仅……而且…… (which adds), this pattern UPGRADES. The 不仅仅是 clause concedes the surface-level description, then 更像是 reaches for a metaphor that captures something the first label missed. The second half should be an image or analogy, not just more facts — otherwise the pattern's punch is wasted.

Learners use this when they really mean 不仅……而且…… ('not only X but also Y'), so the second clause adds another fact instead of offering a metaphor. The 更像是 half is meant to recharacterize, not to pile on.

不仅……而且……

Even stronger reframing: 'rather than saying X, say Y.' This one explicitly rejects the first label; 不仅仅是……更像是…… keeps the first label but goes deeper.
