说...就...
Reach for this when you want to capture how abruptly an action happened — barely a beat between deciding and doing. Repeat the same verb on either side of 就: 说走就走 ('decided to leave and just left'), 说哭就哭 ('cries on cue'). Colloquial, vivid, very common in spoken Chinese, social media, and travel ad copy. Carries a slight admiration for decisiveness or a slight complaint about impulsiveness, depending on context.

How to Think About It
Picture the gap between the thought and the action collapsing to zero. The first verb is the announcement, the second is the action — 就 cinches them together so tightly there's no room for hesitation in between. The phrase doesn't literally mean someone said the verb out loud; 说 here is shorthand for 'as soon as it's decided.' That's why 说走就走 is the canonical example: travel ads love it because it sells spontaneity.

她说走就走，第二天就买了机票。

Common Mistake
Learners use two different verbs ('decided to leave, then went'), which breaks the structure. The point of the pattern is that the SAME verb sits on both sides — that repetition is what creates the 'no gap' feel. Substituting a different verb on the right side loses the punch.

Don't Confuse With
一...就...
'As soon as A, then B' — two different actions in sequence. 一下班就回家 = as soon as work ends, he goes home. 说...就... is the same verb twice and emphasizes decisiveness, not sequence.
马上 / 立刻 + V
'Immediately' — just states timing. 说...就... adds the flavor of 'decision and action collapsed into one moment.' More vivid, more colloquial.
说到做到
'Said it and did it' — emphasizes keeping a promise. 说...就... emphasizes spontaneity, not commitment fulfilled.
