哪怕……，也……
Reach for this when you want to push a hypothetical to its smallest, least likely, or most extreme version and insist the outcome still holds — 'even if just X, still Y.' Sharper than 即使. 哪怕 zooms in on a minimal threshold: even one drop of rain, even a single chance, even five minutes. How to Think About It
哪怕 literally means 'fear what?' — a rhetorical 'no matter how little/how much.' Compared to 即使 (general 'even if'), 哪怕 emphasizes the smallness or extremity of the condition: 'even just a little,' 'even the worst case.' The 也 anchors the outcome, telling the listener nothing changes despite the extreme. Think of it as the more emotionally charged sibling of 即使.

Common Mistake
Learners drop the 也 in the second clause and the concession floats unanchored. The 也 is what carries the 'still / nonetheless' meaning — without it, the sentence sounds incomplete.

Don't Confuse With
即使...也...
Near-synonym, more neutral and slightly more formal. 即使 grants a hypothetical generally; 哪怕 zooms in on the smallest/most extreme threshold for emotional weight.
就算...也...
Spoken 'even if.' Same general meaning as 即使; less emphatic than 哪怕. Use 就算 in casual speech; 哪怕 when you want to stress the extremity.
无论...都...
'No matter what/who/how...' — covers an open range of possibilities. 哪怕 picks one extreme; 无论 sweeps across all cases.
