How to Think About It
Three beats: deny, deny, reveal. The two 不是 clauses establish what people might assume; 只是 lands the surprising or modest reality. 只 is the key — it shrinks the conclusion, suggesting 'no big drama, just this small true thing.' Without 只, the third 是 would feel like a normal correction. With 只, it feels like a confession.

Common Mistake
