从 + A + 降到 + B
The go-to way to report a drop in a number, rate, or level — 'fell from A to B'. 从 marks the starting value, 降 means 'drop', 到 marks where it landed. Use it for prices, taxes, percentages, scores, rankings, temperatures, anything that has a measurable lower position. Especially common in news and business reporting.

How to Think About It
Think of 降到 as a single 'verb + arrival' unit — the value drops AND lands. 降 alone tells you it went down; 到 tells you where it stopped. Without 到, the sentence sounds incomplete, like 'it dropped from 10%…' with no landing point. The pattern wants both endpoints.

Common Mistake
Learners use 下 instead of 降, writing 从 A 下到 B. 下 isn't a standalone verb for numeric decrease; the verb you want is 降 (or 下降). Mixing them produces non-native phrasing.

Don't Confuse With
从 + A + 涨到 + B
Mirror image — for rises. 价格从10块涨到20块 = the price rose from 10 to 20. Swap 降 for 涨 (or 升) when the number goes up.
从 + A + 到 + B
Generic 'from A to B' for places or times (从北京到上海, 从九点到十点). It doesn't carry the 'decrease' meaning — you need 降 in the middle for that.
下降了 + Amount
Reports the size of the drop, not the start and end values. 下降了五个百分点 = 'dropped by 5 percentage points'. Use 从……降到…… when both endpoints matter.
