Reach for 如同...令... when you want to paint a vivid simile and then immediately spell out the effect it has on someone. The 如同 half delivers a comparison ('like X' or 'as if Y'); the 令 half drives the emotional or physical impact home with a causative ('causes someone to feel Z'). How to Think About It
Two beats: paint a picture, then deliver the punch. 如同 is the brush — 'like a thunderclap,' 'as if a wall collapsed' — and 令 is the punchline that says 'and this is how it landed on people.' Plain 像 + 让 says the same thing in everyday speech; 如同 + 令 elevates both halves into a literary register, so use them when you're writing or speaking with weight.

Common Mistake
Learners pair 如同 with 让 instead of 令, mixing registers — like wearing a tuxedo with sneakers. 如同 belongs to formal/literary Chinese, and its natural partner is the equally formal 令.

Even more literary; 犹如 and 使 are both classical-leaning. Reach for it in poetry or highly polished prose; 如同...令... is the slightly more accessible cousin.
