Reach for this when you want to frame one side, dimension, or party of a larger situation — 'on the [X] side / in terms of [X].' 方面 carves a topic into named angles so you can talk about each separately: the Iranian side, the economic side, the technical side. It is the connector journalists and analysts lean on when a story has multiple stakeholders or a problem has multiple facets. Often shows up paired as 一方面...另一方面... ('on one hand… on the other hand…').

How to Think About It
方面 literally means 'direction / face,' and that is exactly how it works: it turns a noun into a viewing angle. 伊朗方面 is not 'Iran' — it's 'Iran-as-a-party-in-this-story.' Use it when you want to talk about a stakeholder's stance, or to slice a topic into aspects (经济方面, 技术方面). If you can substitute 'side' or 'in terms of' in English, you want 方面.

Common Mistake
Learners use 方面 to mean 'place' or 'direction,' confusing it with 地方 or 方向. 方面 only carves abstract angles or parties — never a physical location.

The paired version that explicitly contrasts two angles. Use it when you want both sides spelled out side by side, not just one named.
对...来说
Frames a perspective ('as for X, from X's point of view'), but it does not turn X into a stakeholder in a multi-party story the way 方面 does.
关于...
Means 'regarding / about.' Use it to introduce a topic, not to slice a topic into angles. 关于经济 sets the topic; 经济方面 names one aspect among others.
