随着...的临近
Reach for 随着……的临近 when you want to describe something happening because a date or event is getting close — 'as X approaches.' Use it to frame anticipated rises in discussion ('as the premiere date approaches, buzz keeps building'), tensions ('as the election nears'), or preparations ('as the holiday approaches'). The pattern always points to a future event whose arrival is causing the change in the main clause. Strictly written register — news, essays, formal reports.
Structure
随着 [EVENT/DATE] 的临近, [RESULT IN MAIN CLAUSE]

How to Think About It
随着 means 'along with' — it tracks parallel change. 临近 means 'drawing near.' Glue them together with 的 and you get a compact 'as [thing] approaches.' The whole phrase sits at the start of the sentence and the main clause delivers what's changing because of that approach. The change is almost always gradual: discussion intensifies, prices rise, tension grows. Don't use this for events that have already happened — it's strictly about something getting closer.

Common Mistake
Learners drop the 的, writing 随着……临近, because the 的 looks like an optional possessive. Here 的 is required — 临近 is being nominalized ('the approach of X') so 随着 has a noun phrase to attach to.

Don't Confuse With
随着……
Broader version, tracks any parallel change ('with the development of technology'). Use the 的临近 variant only when something is approaching in time.
快要……了
Just states 'about to happen' without linking it to a result. 随着……的临近 needs a consequence clause that responds to the approach.
在……之前
Means 'before X happens' — a time anchor, not a trigger for change. 随着……的临近 emphasizes the gradual buildup as the date gets closer.
